Born Out Of A Need
Many of us have come out the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic- changed people in some way, shape, or form. For us, the extra time we had to reflect on how we were living led us to become more environmentally conscious, especially regarding our personal carbon footprints. Turns out a big part of that was plastic waste. We were committed to making a change.
Our beloved furry kitties, Summer and Shylo, have been a part of our lives since 2013. During the pandemic, the time came for us to replace the cats’ old, stinky, warped-out-of-shape litter box – again! As we researched to find something better, we found that most litter boxes and pet products are made from plastic. We realized that if we want to build a more sustainable world, we cannot ignore the products we use with our pets. And that’s how Cyclic Journeys was born.

The Plastic Problem in Pet Care
The pet industry has a huge problem. Pet products are mainly made of plastic. Why?
Because it just so happens that plastic is a super lightweight material, easy to mold, cheap to use in manufacturing, and brightly colored. From toys and beds to bowls and scoops, there’s a good chance you and your furry loved ones are surrounded by plastic that will still be around more than a hundred years after we’re gone.

Our Small Step Towards A Solution
When we first welcomed Summer and Shylo into our home, we had to shop for each cat item separately. As new cat owners, at first, we didn’t realize everything we would need, let alone look for products not made of plastic. So, while ideas began taking shape at the beginning of Cyclic Journeys, we decided to go beyond the litter box to create a complete Sustainable Cat Starter Kit.
We have designed out plastic as much as we could and replaced it with environmentally sensible and durable materials. As a result, it’s simple and convenient for cat parents to minimize the plastic waste produced by caring for their furry family members.
Meaning Behind The Name
In the wild, animals, including cats, sustain themselves. And in the natural world, everything occurs in cycles. There is no such thing as waste. Humans are the only living organisms on earth who create waste that nature cannot recycle. In order for us to build a more sustainable future together, our product journeys must be circular from beginning to end.
And so, this is why we named our business Cyclic Journeys. It’s an ongoing journey towards making pet care products cyclical and part of the circular economy. We hope you’ll join us for the ride.
Our Symbol
The Cyclic Journeys symbol draws inspiration from a leaf. Leaves follow a natural life cycle. Each autumn, the leaves fall and rot, returning nutrients to the ground and carbon to the atmosphere, and each spring, these leaves grow anew.
The leaf symbolizes circularity and alignment with the laws of nature. It simultaneously represents the ending of the old and the beginning of the new. It is a constant reminder that it is never too late to turn over a new leaf when living sustainably with our pets and the planet.
